- ➤ Idaho Falls will host a grand parade and civic learning events as part of America’s 250th anniversary celebration. The event will feature floats and new leadership programs (Melaleuca partner) that send high school students (to Washington, D.C.) for civic engagement and a national speech contest for middle schoolers. - ➤ Laser tag returns to the Museum for ages 12 and up. It will include a 15-minute introduction and a 30-minute game this month, and an adult event for those 21 and older is set for May 16 at 6 p.m. sponsored by the Idaho Environmental Coalition. KXPI
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A 14-month-old was discharged from Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center after a 48-day stay following severe throat burns from swallowing a button battery — his mother now urges local parents to choose higher quality batteries with secure coatings to prevent similar incidents. East Idaho News
- ➤ Idaho will receive nearly $1 billion in CMS grants over five years to support rural health care by upgrading technology, care models and workforce training statewide — Steele Memorial Medical Center CEO Preston Becker will explain the benefits today at 5 p.m. KXPI
- ➤ Eastern Idaho Public Health confirmed today a case of measles in an unvaccinated Madison County child who likely contracted the virus during out-of-state travel. The child was seen at the local ER (not hospitalized) and is self-isolating while officials monitor the household for additional cases. KXPI
