EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, students at Eagle Rock Middle School surprised PE teacher Sean Steo in a send-off as he prepared to join the Navy. He said he would return for one half-day before leaving for officer candidate school in Newport, Rhode Island — a transition that honored his connection with the community. East Idaho News
- ➤ The Eastern Idaho State Fair is accepting applications for a $15K scholarship for six high school seniors. Applicants must have attended 4-H or FFA at three of the last five fairs, kept a 2.5 GPA, and studied in one of 16 counties (applications are due March 2). KPVI

- ➤ Idaho's rural hospitals are awaiting federal grant funding from the Rural Health Transformation Program as proposals are reviewed this spring; Valor Health in Emmett expects to invest in facility upgrades + purchase modern equipment if final amounts, around $186 million a year for five years, are approved.
