  • Idaho Falls farmer Joshua Hatfield won a Bucks n’ Trucks lottery prize—a fully loaded Ford F-150 Tremor and $10,000 cash—after buying his ticket while traveling in northern Idaho. Non-winning tickets may be entered into the VIP Club drawing for a final truck on Feb. 26.  East Idaho News
  • Idaho Falls earned the Legacy of Leaves award from the Idaho Nursery and Landscape Association after a spring Arbor Day tree planting at Heritage Park, and the city has maintained its Tree City, USA status for 33 years+ showing ongoing care for its urban forestry.  KXPI

  • A 4-month-old male goat that escaped Wednesday was captured Friday morning near West Yellowstone and Pancheri, the Idaho Falls Animal Shelter said. Officials noted the animal, now nicknamed Lightning McQueen, will be moved to a new home.  East Idaho News

  • Idaho Falls native Christopher Appelhans co-wrote and directed Netflix’s 'KPop Demon Hunters,' an animated musical about a pop band battling demons that became the streaming service’s most-watched original title after its mid-summer release & won multiple awards. He plans to pause on a sequel as he stays connected with home.  East Idaho News

  • Idaho Falls is ranked No. 2 Best-Performing Small City in the 2026 Milken Institute Best-Performing Cities Report, showing strong job and wage growth + affordable housing and broadband access. Mayor Lisa Burtenshaw said the ranking reflects the city’s ongoing economic strength.  KXPI
