  • Dave Hendricks, a Navy veteran, retired after a 35 year career at Idaho National Laboratory where he helped build nuclear power systems for space missions including New Horizons and Mars rovers + he now looks forward to spending time hunting, fishing, and restoring cars with his wife.  East Idaho News
  • Deleta Skating is hosting a free skate night this Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. with Servpro sponsoring the event to celebrate the snack bar's grand re-opening after water damage in 2025 + raffles offering local gift cards.  KPVI
  • Local nonprofit Aspire Services Worldwide is partnering with police to equip vehicles with comfort kits for children in crisis. The kits include earplugs, blankets, diapers, stuffed animals, and crayons tailored to various age groups— a tool to ease trauma during emergencies.  KXPI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Local high school juniors and seniors can join INL’s SparkLab program to gain hands-on research in science and engineering. The program runs Fridays from 1 to 3 p.m. from March 20 to May 30 at the Critical Materials and Energy Systems Innovation Center — applications are due Feb. 27.  East Idaho News

  • Starting Feb. 15, SNAP recipients in Idaho will no longer be able to buy candy and soda with their food assistance cards per Governor Little's law; stores (including local chains) have posted guidance sheets to help shoppers understand which items, such as Kit Kat bars, remain allowed.  KIVI-TV
  • Deputy Reily Foster was named the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office MVP at a Greater Idaho Falls Police Foundation luncheon held Thursday. He served over six years, balancing full-time jail duties with running a local farm and training the jail’s new emotional support dog (Walter).  East Idaho News
