- ➤ After a cartel leader's killing on Sunday caused travel disruptions in Mexico, Nampa resident Maria Hernandez said her parents (stranded in Puerto Vallarta) face flight cancellations and limited communication as they try to return, while the Mexican Consulate in Boise reports no injuries. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The Idaho Falls Fire Department responded yesterday at 8:20 a.m. to a structure fire at the Staybridge Suites hotel that filled the lobby with smoke and damaged at least three rooms (the hotel is under construction and set to open in July) while investigators looked into the cause. KXPI

- ➤ Elementary students in Idaho Falls join the One District, One Book program to boost literacy through 'The Wild Robot' from Feb. 17 to Mar. 12. The district provides free copies for K-6 families and video recordings (in English and Spanish) to support young readers. East Idaho News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ City officials report that beaver activity is damaging native trees along the Riverwalk, prompting crews to wrap trunks with chicken wire (this level of damage is typical for the season). The city will hire a trapper in the coming weeks to relocate the animals from the Snake River banks. KXPI
