CRIME NEWS

  • On March 14, 2025, a jury in Shelley found Cristian J. Salgado guilty of methamphetamine possession from a June 7, 2024 traffic stop — his sentencing is set for June 4, 2025, and he could face up to seven years in prison and a $15,000 fine.  KXPI
  • Idaho Falls Regional Airport warns travelers to be cautious of fraudulent websites that offer E-visas for international travel—scam sites mimic real government pages with errors that can lead to money loss and disrupted trips.  KXPI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Idaho State University opened its new Bengal Success Center yesterday to provide students and faculty with over five services such as tutoring and programs to improve teaching. The center will serve campuses in Meridian, Idaho Falls and Twin Falls—its centralized office is in Pocatello.  KPVI

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Local garden center Sunnyside Gardens owner Aaron McCracken says pansies and violas are best to plant soon because they can handle cold frosts—he advises homeowners to rake and aerate their yards now to help new plants grow and stop fungus problems.  KXPI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The College of Eastern Idaho received state approval for its POST program that lets local law enforcement train in Idaho Falls without traveling to Boise or Pocatello. The first class will begin on April 28th—partners include Guns and Gear and local high schools for the emergency vehicle operations course.  KXPI
  • The Idaho Senate passed HJR 4 that would bar voters from legalizing marijuana by ballot initiative if a constitutional amendment is passed. It now goes to Governor Brad Little’s desk — if signed, the change will be voted on at the next general election.  KIVI-TV
  • Federal agencies will cancel leases for many government offices over the coming months—four of these cancellations affect Idaho locations. The General Services Administration issued a planning document on March 10th that explains agencies must renegotiate leases or move, and officials are still deciding what to do next.  KIVI-TV
