ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 43-year-old man who fell from his kayak at Blacktail Reservoir Saturday near noon was rescued after calling for help and using his lifejacket to reach shore — ambulance personnel warmed him and evaluated his condition.  East Idaho News

CRIME NEWS

  • Two men were arrested after an argument led to a shooting at a home on Fort Hall reservation on March 31—Logan Stephens now faces charges for firing a weapon while Cedur Ponzo, already booked on an active warrant, is set for a hearing on April 10.  East Idaho News
  • A local teen was charged with felony aggravated battery and misdemeanor battery after he allegedly hit a woman and choked a man unconscious following a fender bender near Ledge Rock Drive in Ammon—he called dispatch at about 3:40 a.m. while attending a bonfire and chased the other car before a fight broke out.  East Idaho News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Idaho Falls Power earned national recognition when it received the 2024 Certificate of Excellence in Reliability by the American Public Power Association after five years of low outage durations—making it the only public utility in Idaho to receive this honor. The utility is building a new power generation facility north of town to meet rising energy demand, while keeping residential rates around 7 cents per kilowatt hour.  City of Idaho Falls
  • The Union Pacific Railroad will replace the railroad crossing at Ash Street in Idaho Falls (work is planned to begin soon) and drivers may face brief traffic delays (please use alternate routes as needed).  City of Idaho Falls
