  • Josie and Greta's Pet Food Pantry partnered with ICCU to collect over 800 pounds of pet food for local animals—Phil Meador Subaru also led its 'Fill the Forester' drive with donations accepted at its drop-off on Yellowstone Avenue.  KPVI
  • Rob and Jenny Perkins run Diamond P GrassRoots Bison Ranch (in McCammon) where a massive fire last month destroyed their home, though (no injuries were reported) and the ranch will continue operating through the summer as they rebuild on the same site.  KXPI
  • Local News 8 released a list of Easter celebration events in eastern Idaho and western Wyoming that will bring families together this spring — the schedule includes a free Easter Egg Hunt at Snake River Landing on April 12 and additional hunts on April 19 at spots like Ammon, Island Park, and Rexburg with special accommodations for diverse age groups. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A vehicle struck a gas line at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on North 25th East (Hitt Road) in Ammon—causing the road to close and prompting the evacuation of one family while responders work to shut off the line until tonight—with no injuries reported.  East Idaho News
  • A gas leak caused by a vehicle hitting a junction line has disrupted traffic on Hitt Road between 49th N. and 81st N.—Bonneville County Sheriff's Office and the Idaho Falls Fire Department are working with residents to evacuate safely and plan to keep the road closed through tonight.  KXPI

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local Jewish community members will observe the Fourth Annual Passover Seder on Saturday, April 12 at 7:45 p.m. at Idaho Falls Shilo Inns. Rabbi Sholom Smith from Miami will lead the event along with Rabbi Ari Sasonkin and Rabbi Mendel Berghoff from Brooklyn as participants enjoy traditional handmade shmurah matzah, kosher wine, and a festive full-course meal.  KXPI

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Idaho State Department of Agriculture began mandatory watercraft inspections on April 1st to stop invasive quagga and zebra mussels from entering Idaho—crews are checking and cleaning watercraft at stations statewide, including at Twin Falls. Anyone bypassing the stations will be fined to help contain the spread of these species.  KIVI-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Idaho Transportation Department is telling drivers to check they are driving in the right direction after wrong-way driving led to accidents and arrests, and it met with Idaho State Police and local law enforcement at the Thornton interchange off US-20 on April 9th — the effort is set to stop more incidents.  KXPI
