- ➤ The Community Food Basket is hosting an Elvis-themed Viva Las Vegas Night Fundraiser tomorrow from 5pm to 9pm at Holiday Inn and Suites, 3005 S Fork Boulevard, to raise funds for families and 30 local nonprofits amid a 30% rise in food demand. Tickets cost $100 and the money raised will help provide nutritious food to those in need. KXPI
- ➤ Animal shelters in southeast Idaho are often full because they receive five to 20 calls each day from people trying to rehome their pets. Rexburg Animal Control Officer Scott Chapman said many owners do not research the specific care each breed needs—PAWS Director Stephanie Sokol explained that working dogs require proper exercise to avoid behavior issues. - ➤ Shortly before 7:50 p.m. Thursday a single engine aircraft crashed while landing at Idaho Falls Regional Airport on runway 3-21—ARFF and the Fire Department responded immediately and found no injuries while working to remove the damaged plane and reopen the runway. KXPI
- ➤ A general aviation airplane crashed on the Idaho Falls Airport runway Thursday night just before 7:50 p.m. with no injuries reported by city spokesman Eric Grossarth—though the aircraft sustained significant damage and the runway was closed. East Idaho News
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Idaho State Police arrested 29-year-old Samual Zane Erickson during a traffic stop on April 8 near Ammon and Lincoln Road after Soda Springs Police reported he broke a no-contact order when a woman—listed as the protected party—was found by officers, and they also confirmed he had an active bench warrant from Caribou County and charged him with DUI and related offenses. - ➤ Luke Carl Plesner, 42, was arrested in Idaho Falls on April 4 at about 2 a.m. when a traffic stop led officers to find him concealing fentanyl pills in his rear and mouth—he faces charges of felony trafficking, felony destruction of evidence and a misdemeanor for possessing drug paraphernalia with a preliminary hearing set for April 18 at 1 p.m. East Idaho News
