ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Idaho State Police said that a 2000 Mercury Cougar carrying two juveniles crashed on northbound I-15 just before 2 p.m. Saturday, killing the driver at the scene and injuring the passenger who was taken to a local hospital — the investigation is ongoing.  KPVI
  • A United States postal worker suffered third-degree burns when a gas can exploded on April 1 as he tried to start a fire for s’mores; he is now in a medically induced coma at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls (age 25) and faces a long recovery.  East Idaho News

  • Scammers in Idaho Falls are impersonating deputies by sending fake bench warrant documents that list charges and nonexistent hearing details—Bonneville County Sheriff's Office warns the public never to send money for legal process.  KXPI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Contractors working on the new water tower in Idaho Falls will begin installing the water main on South Capital Avenue starting Wednesday, April 16th, which will create a detour near the public library that is expected to last about four weeks—drivers must use alternative routes while access to Idaho Falls Power remains available.  East Idaho News
  • The city of Idaho Falls will begin sweeping residential streets on Monday, April 21 — starting with arterial and collector streets and those marked for repainting. The work is divided into 26 zones to avoid garbage collection days, except on Fridays and the week of Independence Day — with crews re-sweeping major roads later and adjustments made for weather or equipment issues.  East Idaho News
  • The City of Idaho Falls Street Division will start sweeping residential streets on April 21 using a zone-by-zone schedule that avoids days with garbage collection—residents can check the interactive map for details. Crews will later re-sweep arterial and collector roads after completing the 26 zones and finish the cycle by October.  City of Idaho Falls
  • Contractors are making progress on the new water tower and will soon connect it to the water supply system. Starting Wednesday, April 16, JM Concrete will install the water main on South Capital Avenue — causing a four-week detour near Cliff Street and the west entrance of the Idaho Falls Public Library while access to the library and Idaho Falls Power remains open.  City of Idaho Falls
  • A contractor is implementing a detour on north Pioneer Drive in Idaho Falls today. The detour will reroute traffic between Snake River Parkway and the Arctic Circle entrance on Utah Avenue until the weekend of April 18 to allow utility connections and complete roadwork.  KPVI
  • Contractors have made significant progress on the new water tower and work will begin to connect it to the water system on Wednesday, April 16 when JM Concrete installs the water main on South Capital Avenue, creating a detour at Cliff Street and the west entrance of the library for about four weeks—drivers are advised to follow posted signs while access to the library and Idaho Falls Power stays open.  KXPI
