COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A local organization is hosting a service project for Global Youth Service Day from April 25 to 27 in Idaho Falls. Donations for hygiene kits can be dropped off at three locations—Smith RV, Century 21, and Blue Cross of Idaho—and youth will assemble the kits at a church on Dunbar Drive from 10 a.m. to noon on April 26 for distribution by the Idaho Falls Humanitarian Center.  East Idaho News

  • Local 17-year-old hockey player Carter Barnes died after a car crash in Shelley on April 12—his family and community honor his life with memorial events and a #Sticks4Carter tribute.  East Idaho News

  • The City of Idaho Falls and Idaho Falls Regional Airport announced that American Airlines will begin seasonal nonstop service to Chicago O’Hare starting Aug. 6 and running daily until Nov. 1 — the midday 65-seat CRJ-700 flight offers connections to other domestic and global destinations.  City of Idaho Falls
  • Barricade—owned by Justin and Jackie since March—held a ribbon cutting event on Wednesday, marking their new ownership of the bar. The venue now offers video game-themed drinks, nachos, hot dogs, a slushy machine and arcade games like Pac-Man and Mortal Kombat and will host a Wig-Out-Wine Tasting event today at 6 p.m.  KPVI

CRIME NEWS

  • 20 year old Gabriel Perkins pleaded guilty Wednesday to voluntary manslaughter in the death of Alex Barber and aggravated battery for shooting an Idaho Falls man at Compass Academy in February 2024 — he will be sentenced on June 17th and may face up to 40 years in prison under a plea agreement.  KXPI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On April 16, officials announced that seasonal non-stop flights to Chicago O’Hare will begin August 6 from Idaho Falls Regional Airport and run daily until November 1. Airport director Ian Turner said the route is part of the airport’s expansion plan—designed to meet growing travel demand and improve connections to major markets.  East Idaho News
  • The Idaho Falls Fire Department reminds residents that recreational outdoor fires are allowed only if they meet strict size and safety rules—permits are required for bonfires and irrigation fires while leaving hazardous materials like leaves or trash to burn is illegal. Fire officials stressed that staying within guidelines and keeping safety tools nearby are essential to prevent dangerous situations.  East Idaho News
