ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 1983 Ford F-250 crashed into trees when it failed to turn at 425 West 13th Street shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Sunday—killing the passenger and injuring the driver, who remains hospitalized—while Police, Fire, and EMS removed the truck’s roof with special tools and transported both occupants to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.  KPVI

CRIME NEWS

  • A 33-year-old woman, Carlee Nicole Pina, was charged with allegedly giving a .22 caliber Glock 44 to a known gang member before an officer-involved shooting at the Econo Lodge on April 8 — police used extra tactics during the standoff — and she now faces felony charges for unlawful firearm possession by a convicted felon and supplying firearms to a criminal gang.  East Idaho News

  • Bonneville Joint School District 93 is proposing to relocate Praxium Mastery Academy to Ammon Elementary School to allow expansion for up to 500 students from grades 7 to 12 — the board will vote in May or June while staff request to move as a cohesive team.  KXPI

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Idaho's State Department of Agriculture warns boaters to watch for invasive species hitchhiking on watercraft coming from out of state this spring—simple maintenance and free boat check stations will help protect the ecosystem, agriculture, and water supply.  KXPI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tim Reinke, who has served 46 years as Idaho Falls head golf pro, is stepping down with his final day on April 30 — a retirement celebration is planned on April 25 at Pinecrest Golf Course as his assistant Sean Thomsen takes over the role.  East Idaho News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Blue Cross of Idaho announced it will partner with eastern Idaho agencies—Bonneville County Sheriff, Idaho Falls Police, Idaho State Police, the Center for Hope, Community Family Clinic, Eastern Idaho Public Health and Eastern Idaho Medical Reserve Corps—to collect unused and expired drugs on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at its office on South 25th Street East.  KPVI

SPORTS NEWS

  • Idaho Falls golf pro Tim Reinke, who joined the city in 1979 and led Pinecrest Golf Course from 1984, is retiring after 46 years with the city as his last day comes April 30. A retirement celebration will be held Friday, April 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Pinecrest Golf Course—Reinke is credited with helping turn the courses around and teaching the game to many local golfers.  KXPI
