- ➤ Arbor Day was celebrated on April 25, a holiday that began in 1872 as a tree planting event and was established nationally in 1907. In Ammon, residents planted trees, enjoyed a hot dog lunch and received Colorado spruce seedlings while the Idaho Forest Products Commission distributed thousands of seedlings and offered educational activities in Idaho Falls, Chubbuck and Blackfoot — reinforcing conservation efforts. - ➤ EastIdahoNews.com and Ashley and Ashley Outlet worked together to surprise Jeanette, a City of Idaho Falls Parks Maintenance worker who was cleaning graffiti on the Greenbelt as part of Feel Good Friday. - ➤ Bonneville County Jail completed a new special housing unit that raises its capacity from 532 beds to 623 beds and adds updated medical features and staff areas—using new touchscreens and passive monitoring boxes—to better care for inmates with special needs. The jail will hire nine deputies and host an open house today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. KPVI
- ➤ The City of Idaho Falls is closing Anderson Street between Boulevard and Holmes Avenue today to replace a waterline near the intersection of Anderson and Holmes—motorists must reduce speeds and follow traffic signs as work continues. KXPI

- ➤ Idaho public health experts report that fifth disease, known as slap cheek, is causing a mild viral rash in children ages 4 to 10 in southeast Idaho and is spread by coughing and sneezing. They advise hand washing—staying home when sick is recommended and extra care is needed for children with weak immune systems. KXPI
