COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A new exhibit on American history opened at the Idaho Falls Public Library on April 28th and will run through May 10th. The traveling display uses digital kiosks and panels — provided by the Old Fort Hall chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution — to bring historical artifacts and stories of the nation's birth to the community.  KXPI
  • Idaho Gives launched its 2025 annual fundraising campaign on Monday at the Idaho Falls Public Library, where sponsors and nonprofit representatives gathered to support nearly 640 local organizations—an effort that will continue until Thursday, May 1.  KXPI

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A motorcyclist was hospitalized after a crash on Friday night at South 25th East and Eastview Rd in Idaho Falls and the rider was not wearing a helmet—police said details of the crash remain unclear.  KPVI

CRIME NEWS

  • Idaho Falls authorities reported that 36-year-old Bradley Cory Willard received five years probation on March 4 after pleading guilty to one count of assault and a misdemeanor DUI following an August incident in which he broke an officer's hand — a decision that a local police union said was too lenient.  East Idaho News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA Idaho said that gas prices in the state stayed near $3.30 per gallon this week, down by a penny from last week and by four cents from last month while remaining 63 cents lower than a year ago. Falling crude oil costs of about $62 per barrel have kept prices low—although fuel demand may rise with Memorial Day travel.  East Idaho News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Bonneville County Transfer Station will close from May 12 to May 16 for maintenance on its waste trench—municipal and household waste will be handled at Peterson Hill Landfill while tires, freon, used motor oil and batteries will still be accepted. Metal and cardboard recyclables can be dropped off at the Bonneville County Hatch Pit during its regular hours.  East Idaho News

  • Crews with Idaho Falls Power are investigating a power outage affecting neighborhoods near Sunnyside Road on the south side of the city — the company said in a Facebook post that service will be restored as soon as possible.  KXPI
  • The City of Idaho Falls will host its annual Clean and Green Citywide Cleanup starting May 1 to help residents dispose of unwanted household waste, brush, construction debris and bulk items; Sanitation Division and Code Enforcement staff will serve at different drop-off locations on four weekends in May from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  City of Idaho Falls
