  • On Tuesday, Apr. 30, the Shilo Inn building at 780 Lindsay Boulevard closed as a court converted its Chapter 11 case to Chapter 7—forcing owner David Rail to halt operations at his Mediterranean restaurant Trofi and lay off staff while he works with the court to secure event space.  East Idaho News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Idaho Falls Youth Arts Centre stages its spring musical 'The Scarlet Pimpernel' with final showings today and tomorrow at 7 p.m. at 3910 S. Yellowstone Highway (tickets are $20) to support youth arts programs.  East Idaho News
  • Sound Jam, a teen-friendly live music event, will take place Saturday, May 9 at the Art Museum of Eastern Idaho in Idaho Falls. The event gives young musicians a platform to perform + connect and is open to teens of all skill levels.  KPVI

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The USDA has restored funding to the University of Idaho's IAMP program, granting $59M to support regenerative farming practices among over 200 local farmers across 34 counties. The program will distribute $3.5M in direct payments + $450,000 for marketing projects as it resumes enrollment soon.  KIVI-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Idaho colleges — Boise State, U of I, ISU and Lewis-Clark — approved tuition hikes during an Idaho State Board of Education meeting after state funding cuts. Boise State will raise resident tuition by $425 following a $6.7 million cut, and the other schools will also raise rates to sustain their programs.  KIVI-TV
  • Two Westside Elementary sixth-grade teams will compete in the SeaPerch underwater robotics competition in Maryland in late May after winning top spots among 36 teams, and coach Kaylyn Griffiths said students are fundraising to cover flight costs by offering shirt sponsorships to businesses donating $250 or more.  East Idaho News
