COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Local faith & political leaders met at the annual National Day of Prayer breakfast at Country Inn & Suites in Idaho Falls on May 7. Hosted by the Regional Council for Christian Ministries, speakers like Pastor Troy Harvey and Commissioner Karl Casperson urged unity and respectful dialogue to bring the community together.  East Idaho News
  • Trio will host a military resource fair on Saturday, May 16 at the Bennion Student Union on the Idaho State University campus from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Forty vendors including American Red Cross, College of Eastern Idaho, and Idaho National Lab will offer resources on education, employment, healthcare, and community support for veterans and guests.  KPVI
  • A carnival-themed fundraiser for local mom Ryanne Brinton is set for Saturday, May 16 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Sunnyside Elementary (165 Cobblestone Lane) to support her treatment as she battles stage four cancer.  East Idaho News
  • The Idaho Falls Parks & Recreation Wes Deist Aquatic Center will host free swim lessons Saturday, May 9 for children ages 3 to 13, taught by American Red Cross instructors at 149 7th Street; families must register in advance.  East Idaho News
  • After public outcry over a former manager’s plea agreement, the entire board of the Farmers Market resigned on May 6 — a new board chosen from interested vendors will lead the market, which will run Saturday at 9 a.m.  KXPI

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Monday, May 4, a mother grizzly bear with cubs mauled two hikers along Mystic Falls Trail in Yellowstone and the injured were airlifted to EIRMC in Idaho Falls, while the backcountry area was closed.  KXPI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of McCammon issued an immediate boil water order today after water pressure dropped during routine repairs. Residents will receive a notice soon as officials work to restore service.  KXPI

HEALTH NEWS

  • At Snake River Animal Shelter, Dr. Kasey Sweeney explains that microchipping is a smart way to help lost pets return home—collars and ID tags can fall off. The shelter at 3000 Lindsay Boulevard in Idaho Falls welcomes visitors for pet adoption during regular business hours.  East Idaho News
