  • The Idaho Falls Public Library will launch its new Drive-Thru Pick Up service on Monday, May 12 at 10:00 a.m. on the library’s east side—Mayor Rebecca Casper and other community officials will join a ribbon-cutting ceremony as the service allows patrons to pick up materials from their vehicles.  City of Idaho Falls
  • Two Men and a Truck donated roughly 4,000 items to support women at the Bingham Crisis Center and Idaho Falls Rescue Mission as part of its annual Mother’s Day drive. The moving company dropped off hygiene products, cleaning supplies, clothing and more on Thursday at Bingham and Wednesday at the Rescue Mission — items collected from local businesses and residents.  East Idaho News

  • A 13-year-old girl was arrested in Bonneville County after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase early Wednesday morning that damaged vehicles, yards, and a garage—authorities later released her 15-year-old passenger to his parents.  East Idaho News
  • A 25-year-old man, Tytus Domitry Nowakowski, was charged with lewd conduct with a child under 16 after a woman reported they had a sexual relationship when she was 15 and he was 19—he is scheduled to appear in court at 1 p.m. on May 16 and faces up to life in prison if found guilty.  East Idaho News

  • Idaho Falls woman Catherine Skelton fulfilled her lifelong dream of competing on The Price is Right when she was chosen on her third studio taping with host Drew Carey on Thursday. Local News 8 invited her to join Jeff and Kailey at noon to discuss her experience on the game show.  KXPI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Shelley Joint School District No. 60 is proposing a bond package to build a new high school, career technical education building and auditorium—along with renovations to existing schools. Voters will decide on the proposal at the election Tuesday, May 20—if approved, the district may issue up to $78,640,000 for projects in Bingham and Bonneville Counties.  KXPI
  • Bonneville School District 93 is partnering with the Summer Food Service Program to offer free meals to children ages 1 to 18 this summer. Meals will be served at sites in Idaho Falls and Ammon from June 2 to June 26 on Mondays through Thursdays—breakfast is from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at Cloverdale Elementary and lunch is from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at other locations.  KXPI
  • Idaho Falls School District 91 superintendent Karla LaOrange warned that some students are putting metal or conductive items into USB ports to start fires and damage devices, which has led to smoke from computers and may result in full replacement costs, disciplinary action, or criminal charges — prompting school staff to monitor devices more closely and urging parents to discuss the danger with their children.  East Idaho News
