- ➤ The Idaho Falls Public Library opened its drive-thru on Monday, May 12 for members to order books online or by phone—drivers must show a valid license when picking up items at the Park Avenue location. East Idaho News
- ➤ AAA Idaho said that 45.1 million Americans, including 274,000 from Idaho, are expected to travel for Memorial Day weekend and that drivers should leave early to avoid heavy traffic and security delays. AAA will provide emergency road service for up to 360,000 vehicles—so travelers are encouraged to inspect their cars before departing. East Idaho News

- ➤ A semi-truck drove off the road near mile post 375 on highway 26 in Swan Valley on May 12 at 5:16 a.m.—one lane was blocked and drivers were urged to slow down. KPVI
- ➤ A head-on crash on Lewisville Highway shortly before 3 p.m. on Friday, May 9 killed Doris Prine — a 61-year-old from Terreton — and injured a 21-year-old pickup truck driver as police continue to investigate the incident. KXPI
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 19-year-old was sentenced on May 12 for his role in a fatal shooting in the Compass Academy parking lot and received 90 days in local jail with work release, 100 hours of community service and 5 years of probation—he faces an additional 3 to 5 years in prison if he violates his probation. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Todd Hubbard, an engineer with the Idaho Transportation Department, said work is progressing on road projects in district five, which covers seven southeastern counties. He said the I-86 and I-15 interchange will be completed this fall and I-15 will be expanded from Northgate to North Fort Hall (the Inkom Corridor project will replace southbound bridges this year and northbound next year, with full completion by December 2026).
