COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A new non-profit called Portneuf Valley Trails Alliance launches in eastern Idaho to support all human powered outdoor recreation—originally evolving from Pedal Fest—board member Juliana Schirmer said the group will host a free kickoff event on May 22nd from 6pm to 8pm at Centennial Park with activities including a mountain bike ride, guided hike and free hot dogs, chips and drinks provided.  KPVI
  • The Idaho Falls Animal Shelter rescued several puppies today after reports of dogs seen in a field near 17th and Skyline Drive—officials recovered three puppies though one did not survive. Shelter directors remain unsure if all the dogs have been found and advise local residents to report any sightings, noting that the rescued puppies are not yet available for adoption.  KXPI

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Local husband and father of six Casey Price was seriously injured when his one-ton truck fell on him at his home in Osgood on April 24; he spent 19 days in the hospital with broken ribs, a punctured lung, and other injuries—he now faces a long recovery with ongoing therapy and community support.  East Idaho News

  • Police in Fort Hall are searching for known sex offender Eli Mosho, a 36 year old with black hair, brown eyes and tattoos on his left hand, wrist, back and both legs who is traveling with a 16 year old runaway at 5 feet 9 inches tall; anyone with information should call the police at (208)238-4000 or 911.  KXPI

  • Bobby and Nancy Picker of Idaho Falls have been devoted members of the Baha’i faith for 51 years and host regular devotional services at their home. They invite locals to attend a service on May 18 at 11 a.m.—and are available Friday at 7:30 p.m. to discuss their faith.  East Idaho News
  • The Museum of Idaho will open its traveling exhibition Mummies of the World on May 31—featuring interactive displays that show how natural and intentional mummification occurred in regions like South America, Europe, Egypt, and the United States—and aims to offer visitors a unique look at ancient practices. The exhibit is the largest the museum has hosted in over a decade—while its regular Way Out West and Signs of the Times exhibits remain on view—and will run concurrently with other local attractions.  KXPI
