ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On May 14th near Fort Hall, a dump truck and semi-truck caught fire at Mickelsen Construction, spilling 250 gallons of diesel—firefighters contained the blaze by 8 p.m. with no reported injuries as investigators probe the cause.  KXPI

  • Idaho Falls police arrested Trevor Jenkins after a high-speed chase last week that began when officers saw his green Lexus RX on Hoopes Avenue and South Woodruff Avenue and escalated when Jenkins hit a police car—he was then detained for outstanding warrants.  KPVI
  • Idaho Falls police are investigating gang-related graffiti on businesses and homes as property owners work to remove tags quickly—Crime Stoppers offers a $500 cash reward for anonymous tips that lead to a successful arrest.  KXPI

CULTURE NEWS

  • The new historical fiction novel 'Where Eagles Fly Free' tells the story of Thomas and Annie Wright, immigrants who helped shape the transcontinental railroad and passed through Idaho before settling in California. Author David Jacinto will sign books at Barnes & Noble in Idaho Falls on May 24 at 1 p.m. & he blends real facts with fictional details to tell their story.  East Idaho News

  • Yesterday, ground was broken at Rigby High School for a new field house that will let students and community members play sports all year. The facility is made possible by a donation from Broulim's+ which supports local athletes and provides more practice time for teams.  KXPI
  • The Idaho Falls Library is hosting a free coding class called Coding for Kids—a six week series running Tuesday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.—that teaches children ages 8 to 12 block based coding using Scratch; sessions are limited to 10 students and require an active library card.  KXPI
