COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Idaho Falls Police Department is making progress with a citywide cleanup effort that uses drop-off spots each weekend in May. Volunteers pulled weeds and removed graffiti at the Science Center, Canyon Avenue, and Aquatic Center Parking Lot — residents who want to help are set to meet from Thursday to Saturday at the Tyra Drive location.  KPVI
  • Idaho Falls residents expressed satisfaction with the local economy and city services in early 2025 survey results—76% rated services as good or excellent—and many reported feeling safe in their neighborhoods. Mayor Casper said city leaders will use these findings to shape upcoming projects in areas like street maintenance, airport parking and public transit.  City of Idaho Falls
  • Cleo, a 3-year-old pit bull-terrier mix taken in as a stray, is named Pet of the Week at the Snake River Animal Shelter because she is calm, well-behaved on a leash, and friendly with children and other dogs—Operations Manager Romi Weaver said she needs a good home and interested adopters can visit during business hours at 3000 Lindsay Boulevard.  East Idaho News

  • CEI hosted its first visit by the state’s Joint Financial Appropriation Committee in Idaho Falls, where industry leaders and students testified about the school’s success in preparing locals for jobs, with President Lori Barber detailing nearly $1.7 million in career technical enhancements & $500,000 in enrollment adjustments. Delegates also included Rep. Wendy Horman and Sen. Scott Grow, underscoring the committee’s long-term support for the college.  East Idaho News
  • The College of Eastern Idaho will host its 16th Great Race for Education on July 18 at 10 a.m. at the Waterfront at Snake River Landing where 20 teams of four will compete in a scavenger hunt featuring five timed challenges based on Mt. Olympus and Greek mythology. The event will raise funds for scholarships and capital projects and teams must register by June 15 at a fee of $250 (a $500 clue package is available).  East Idaho News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A new survey shows Idaho Falls residents rate safety, city services and the local economy highly with 76% saying services are good and over 90% feeling safe in their neighborhoods or downtown—while they noted areas for improvement in street maintenance, economic development, airport facilities and public transit. Mayor Rebecca Casper said city leaders are analyzing the results and already working on projects such as upgraded airport parking and expanded transit—steps aimed at further strengthening the community.  KXPI

  • A woman in Rexburg experienced severe breathing problems and was rushed to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center on Feb. 8th after doctors discovered 12 blood clots in her lungs and heart. She is now recovering at home on blood thinners—her sister has started a fundraiser to help cover her ongoing medical and home care expenses.  East Idaho News
