COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Community members are preparing for the annual Field of Heroes Memorial — the event begins Friday May 23 at Century High School soccer field with a dedication ceremony and marker placement. Volunteers will set out 7,064 markers to honor service members killed in the Global War on Terrorism and 97 markers for Idaho service members who died since September 11, while the field stays open 24 hours until Monday at 5:30 p.m. with a Run to Remember on Saturday requiring registration at 9 a.m. and a $10 donation.  KPVI

CRIME NEWS

  • Two Utah men were arrested for allegedly stealing $70,000 from D&L Cleaners in Idaho Falls after the Fourth of July when a tip and security video linked Thomas Jeffrey Ward and Jimmy Jack Olson to the crime—Ward faces charges of felony burglary and grand theft with a preliminary hearing on May 28 while Olson is charged with conspiracy and is set for a pre-trial conference at 9 a.m. on June 16.  East Idaho News

  • Idaho DMV will implement legislative updates that change license plate designs, permit rules, staff background checks, and next of kin records—some rules taking effect this summer and others starting on January 1. DMV Administrator Lisa McClellan said the changes will modernize system security and offer more choices for Idahoans.  KXPI
