COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today, Idaho Falls residents gathered at the Field of Honor to learn how to properly care for the American flag during Memorial Day weekend — they learned that if the flag is flown at half-staff for mourning, it must first be raised to the top before being lowered and kept off the ground. Dan Kahl of the Idaho Falls Exchange Club also shared his tribute by dedicating flags to his veteran family members.  KXPI
  • Funland (offering classic rides, snacks, and family fun) opened for the season on Friday, May 25th near Tautphaus Park. It is open (Mondays from noon to 8 p.m. and Thursdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) until Labor Day weekend.  East Idaho News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Authorities responded to a car fire on I-15 at mile marker 102 in the northbound lanes near Idaho Falls and Pocatello—no injuries were reported and the vehicle is a total loss—Bingham County Sheriff's deputies, Idaho State Police and Firth Fire are investigating the cause.  KXPI

  • Idaho National Laboratory invites certified K-12 and community college teachers to a free two-day workshop on June 24 & 25 that will explore advanced energy research and innovative teaching methods. The workshop will include interactive sessions & guided tours of INL facilities with registration limited to the first 60 qualified participants who can earn continuing education credit.  East Idaho News

  • Idaho’s longest-serving senator, William Borah, had an alleged affair with former President Theodore Roosevelt’s daughter Alice Roosevelt Longworth and they had a child together that stayed secret from voters. The relationship was known only to Washington insiders and was not reported to the public at the time.  East Idaho News
  • On May 25, Idaho State Police joined agencies nationwide in observing National Missing Children’s Day by urging the public to report missing persons immediately—Governor Brad Little signed a proclamation as about 50 children were still listed among 180 active missing cases statewide.  East Idaho News
