COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Mountain Brewers Beer Fest will take place this Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. at Sandy Downs in Idaho Falls to celebrate its 30th year with over 100 vendors offering beers, ciders, cocktails and local food, and proceeds will support local charities—such as Breaking Boundaries, which aids HIV/AIDS initiatives in the community.  East Idaho News

CRIME NEWS

  • An Idaho Falls man, 30-year-old Daniel Eric Maras, was charged with two counts of felony possession of child pornography after a cybertip led police to detain him on April 9 and a search uncovered over a thousand images showing children as young as 6 and up to 15 along with adults—he is set to appear at a pretrial conference on June 10 at 1 p.m.  East Idaho News

  • Rising Star Theatre presents Beetlejuice Jr. at the Frontier Center today at 7 p.m., with more shows on June 5 and 6 at 7 p.m. and on June 7 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.—tickets cost $10 and guests are directed to use north side parking due to construction.  East Idaho News

  • Crews with the Idaho Cleanup Project finished demolishing the high bay roof and walls of the S1W naval reactor prototype plant at the Naval Reactors Facility using explosives—this work is a key step in reducing the site's footprint, following the safe removal of contaminated materials and the defueled reactor vessel in March. The team plans to clear the remaining debris by fall to complete the cleanup project.  KXPI
  • The Idaho Transportation Department warned Idahoans on June 3 about a scam text message & said it falsely claims recipients owe money for unpaid traffic tickets & urged recipients not to click on any links or share personal info.  KPVI
  • Bonneville County announced seven applicants for a new magistrate judge position and the Magistrate’s Commission will meet late July in Idaho Falls to choose a candidate to begin after July 1. Public evaluation questionnaires for comment are available at the County Clerk’s Office and must be returned by June 23 at 5 p.m.—attorneys statewide will help review the candidates.  East Idaho News
  • The Idaho Transportation Department warns Idaho residents about a text scam that demands online payment for traffic violations—fraudulent messages include links and threats like suspended licenses—and advises residents not to click on the links but to report the texts to their phone carriers.  KIVI-TV

  • Demolition crews began tearing down part of Pine Ridge Mall in Chubbuck to prepare the property for conversion into an open-air retail center called Pine Ridge Shopping Center. The redevelopment will keep tenants like Hobby Lobby and CAL Ranch — and add new stores such as Target.  KXPI
