COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Idaho Innovation Center hosted its Food Truck Summer Kickoff on Friday (June 6) from 11:30 am to 8 pm where seven vendors offered 10% off their dishes and local band OCD performed live (11:30 am to 2:30 pm).  KXPI
  • EastIdahoNews.com partnered with Ashley and Ashley Outlet to honor Gail, a 90-year-old volunteer who celebrated her birthday on May 14 and has worked at the local food bank every Friday since 1972. Gail has become a beloved community figure—her long service shows a true commitment to helping others.  East Idaho News
  • Community members including Idaho Falls Police, firefighters and local sports car owners gathered on May 31 to celebrate seven-year-old Brennan’s birthday after his classmates did not attend — his mother Kayla Havens said he kept asking if anyone had arrived. Local groups also helped make the day special by offering rides, free dinner, and a VIP race experience that made him feel supported.  East Idaho News

CRIME NEWS

  • IDAHO FALLS — A 22-year-old man from Idaho Falls pleaded guilty to felony aggravated assault and was sentenced on May 28 to four years of probation after he stabbed a relative’s boyfriend during an argument in a kitchen in January.  East Idaho News
  • A former Black Canyon Middle School drama teacher, Justin Zierke, was sentenced on June 6 for having inappropriate conversations with a 13-year-old student — he received 30 days in jail with 8 days credit and will serve two years of probation — if he violates his probation he risks up to 142 days in jail.  East Idaho News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • With school out, teens in Idaho Falls have several options for entry-level summer jobs and must follow child labor laws that require workers to be at least 14 for non-agricultural positions—many fast-food jobs offer wages around $10 or $11 per hour as the Idaho Department of Labor also holds hiring events in the area.  KXPI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Traffic leaving US-20 to access South Rigby will be detoured on Monday as the northbound ramp at Exit 320 is closed for bridge repairs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.—travelers may take Exit 322 or Exit 318 while those heading from Rigby to US-20 can still use the southbound ramp toward Idaho Falls.  KXPI
  • Idaho Transportation Department is warning residents about a text scam that falsely offers expedited REAL ID services and says REAL IDs (Star Cards) must be obtained in person at DMV offices. Officials urge anyone receiving these messages to delete them and avoid sharing personal or payment information.  KIVI-TV
