- ➤ Indy is a 2-year-old mixed breed dog who is the shelter's longest resident and a great match for active families who enjoy hiking or running. The Snake River Animal Shelter says she gets along well with other docile male dogs and is available for adoption visits at 3000 Lindsay Boulevard during business hours. East Idaho News
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On June 16th, a local teen fell off her electric scooter near Community Park on East 25th Street when she swerved to avoid mailboxes, and Michelle Marie Skidmore—who was later praised on Facebook with over 2,000 likes—immediately stopped to help by giving her a ride home. East Idaho News
- ➤ Motor Vu Drive-In paused a Saturday morning movie when a small kitchen fire broke out during a showing of How to Train Your Dragon — the fire department responded quickly — and the drive-in resumed normal service for Saturday and Sunday night showings. KXPI
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Idaho Falls police arrested Daytona Tony Travis after he was linked to a West Highway 33 stabbing that occurred Sunday afternoon, and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the case. KXPI
- ➤ Emerson Martin Garcia Calderon, a 22-year-old accused of causing a May 28 crash in Shelley that killed 37-year-old Jared Eborn, was sentenced by District Judge Dane Watkins Jr. to 5 to 15 years in prison, received credit for 2 years served, and must pay $7,872.60 in restitution as Eborn’s family forgave his actions. East Idaho News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, the Idaho Transportation Department will use special state funding to fix congestion on Highway 20 near Idaho Falls by widening U.S. 20 to two lanes in each direction and expanding it into a four-lane divided highway from Chester to Ashton—while also purchasing private property for the future I-15 and U.S. 20 interchange work. The first phase of construction will start in 2026. KPVI
- ➤ 17th Street construction in Ammon will finish in less than three weeks, with all five lanes of the bridge set to open before July 4th, as City Administrator Micah Austin—who meets with the state and contractor Keller Associates regularly—explained that work handled at the state level will ease traffic delays when complete. City leaders appreciate the public’s patience during months of detours and extra traffic. KXPI
