Good morning, Idaho Falls. Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 26th of July.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On July 9 during a high school cross country run at Community Park, Coach Craig Enos went into cardiac arrest. Coach Alan McMurtrey immediately performed CPR and called EMS—his swift response likely saved Enos's life—and both coaches were honored this Feel Good Friday.  East Idaho News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A haystack fire broke out near the intersection of 45th East and 49th South in Ammon on Friday morning at 7:15 a.m.—causing about $30K to $40K in damage as fire crews worked to keep the blaze away from a nearby power station.  East Idaho News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Preparations in Idaho Falls are underway for the Eagle Rock Art Guild's Riverwalk Art Festival, which begins today (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and features local art including paintings, sculptures, mixed media, and photography. Vendors say the annual event supports local artists and provides same-day gift options amid ongoing supply chain challenges.  KXPI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Idaho Transportation Department is asking for public feedback on long-term road projects through a 30-day comment period (until August 1st) so that local input shapes future plans. Residents should submit their suggestions via the proper channels to ensure their concerns are heard.  KXPI
  • Bonneville County commissioners issued a burn ban beginning Friday—set to expire Sept. 30 unless lifted early—due to high temperatures and low moisture. The ban prohibits outdoor burns, including fireworks and exploding targets, and allows only campfires in approved pits so residents must follow safety measures to reduce wildfire risk.  East Idaho News
  • The 7th Judicial District Magistrate Commission selected Jacob B. Workman and Michael A. Kirkham as new Bonneville County magistrate judges—Workman fills a new position effective July 1 while Kirkham replaces Judge Brendon Taylor, appointed as a district judge on June 2—and both will serve an 18-month probationary period before a retention election.  East Idaho News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Bingham Healthcare received a $10,000 grant from the Union Pacific Foundation to begin education initiatives that will give local high school students hands-on learning in healthcare. The center will hire a community education coordinator and set up a learning management platform — making it easier for students to explore healthcare careers — as part of its planned outreach.  KPVI
