COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A new radio station, Farm County 1260 AM, launched last month and is now airing classic country music and agricultural news to help local farmers + ranchers stay informed. It airs daily ag reports from 5 a.m. to noon and will feature local voices and market updates to support community farming.  East Idaho News

CRIME NEWS

  • Douglass Dallas, a 37-year-old inmate on work release in Idaho Falls, stole an ATV on July 1 to flee police and was arrested; he now faces charges of grand theft + escape.  East Idaho News
  • Taylor Alan Aughenbaugh, a 20-year-old man involved in the fatal Compass Academy shooting, was arrested in Blackfoot after crashing his vehicle while impaired and found with illegal drugs—he now faces charges for felony controlled substance possession, DUI under 21, and related offenses with a preliminary hearing set for 8:30 a.m. on July 31.  East Idaho News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Dan Neal has released his book No Forgiveness detailing his grandfather’s 1911 murder in eastern Idaho following a dispute over water rights — the shooting left his family devastated as his father was only 15 months old at the time. Neal, 73, will sign his book at Winnie and Mo’s Bookshop in Idaho Falls on Aug. 5 after decades of research uncovered trial records that shed new light on the case.  East Idaho News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Idaho Fish and Game Commission awarded $100K in Challenge Grants to 20 projects for conservation and outdoor recreation across Idaho. A $20K gift went to the Henrys Fork Foundation for work at Chester Dam Access—while funds also supported youth programs, research, and habitat improvements—according to the award notice.  KIVI-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Idaho Transportation Department and partners began inlaid striping on SH-33 today in Idaho Falls where four miles of road have been reduced to one lane with flaggers and pilot cars — US-20 work will start next week and crews will work through the night on I-15 Business Loop, with all operations ending by August 15.  KXPI
  • The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office has added a Bernedoodle puppy named Strider to its K9 team thanks to a donation from the Greater Idaho Falls Police Foundation, and Strider has started training with School Resource Officer Deputy Nathan Downey to work as a therapy dog in schools. The sheriff’s office plans to start a therapy K9 program at the county jail in the future.  KPVI
  • Bonneville County has two new magistrate judges selected by the seventh judicial district. Jacob Workman, previously the managing attorney for Idaho Legal Aid Services, fills the newly created position while Michael Kirkham, the Idaho Falls city attorney since 2023, replaces Judge Brendon Taylor — both will serve an 18‑month probation before running for election.  KPVI
