- ➤ A local veteran, Staff Sgt. Christopher Byers, will move into a donated house in September after community volunteers landscaped his new home on Saturday along Helix Boulevard. The nonprofit Homes For Our Troops—based in Massachusetts—built the one-level house—featuring over 40 special adaptations—for his needs. East Idaho News
- ➤ The Idaho Falls Police Department invites local residents to National Night Out tomorrow from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Typhaus Park, where officers from the patrol bureau, SWAT team and K-9 unit will display vehicles and equipment to strengthen police-community partnerships. KPVI
- ➤ Idaho Falls mayor Rebecca Casper presented the Mayor’s Choice Award to community leader Carrie Getty Scheid to honor her role in revitalizing downtown and supporting local projects — including her work on restoring the colonial theater, installing public art, and launching Idaho gives. KPVI

- ➤ AAA Idaho reported that gas prices held steady at about $3.48 per gallon for regular fuel as of July 29, with Idaho Falls showing a price of $3.45 and other cities at similar levels; refineries increased production to meet a slight rise in demand, while travel remained robust and crude oil stayed below $70 per barrel—factors that could change if supply issues develop. This update comes as Idaho continues to rank among the states with the highest fuel prices. East Idaho News

- ➤ City attorney Michael Kirkham is set to become a Bonneville County magistrate judge as Idaho Falls thanks him for 11 years of service—he started as an assistant attorney in 2014 and became city attorney in December. The city has posted the attorney position and will announce his successor by early October. East Idaho News
- ➤ Downtown Idaho Falls will introduce a new on-street paid parking system in October managed with the PARK SMARTER app and enforced Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.—the system is set to boost parking turnover and fund downtown improvements. Phase I will serve the area from Broadway north to D Street and Yellowstone west to Memorial Drive while Phase II will expand next year—tiered rates and free parking for designated zones will remain available.
