- ➤ A 27-year-old Idaho Falls man died after a late-night crash at a gas station parking lot near the 400 block of West 17th Street on August 5 — police said he lost control of his Infiniti Q50, possibly while street racing, and collided with a concrete wall. KXPI

- ➤ Disney On Ice will perform at the Mountain America Center from November 13 through 16 and will feature characters from Frozen, Encanto and classic Disney favorites+ tickets go on sale August 12. KPVI
- ➤ The Shoshone Bannock Tribes will host the 60th Annual Indian Festival tomorrow through Sunday — celebrating 60 years of strength and history while offering a competitive pow-wow, parade, softball and golf tournaments, Indian relay races, hand games, a horseshoe tournament, art show, rodeos, food booths and craft vendors. - ➤ The local Russell sisters won gold at the World Cosplay Championship in Nagoya this past weekend — marking the first win for the United States in the event. They also took the award for Best Costume Construction as they competed against participants from forty countries. KPVI
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A wildfire near the county line closed U.S. Highway 20 and delayed traffic including INL buses returning to Idaho Falls Wednesday night—firefighters said the Lava Trail Fire started at 3:47 p.m. and burned 110 acres near Hell’s Half-Acre while police held traffic until visibility improved. This situation is being closely monitored and updates will follow as conditions change. East Idaho News

- ➤ On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Rep. Mike Simpson visited the Teton Dam site to study ways to improve water storage. He met with Idaho Farm Bureau officials—discussing potential options including a dam rebuild while noting that no decision has been made. KXPI

- ➤ Community Suicide Prevention received a $10,000 grant from The Idaho Community Foundation on August 6th to expand its suicide prevention programs in eastern Idaho. Local board member Jan Eastman was honored by the $200 Million Moment campaign — the funds will help local volunteers teach classes and recognize warning signs — as the non-profit returns its support to the community.
