- ➤ The Snake River Stock Car Association is hosting a fan appreciation event for high-speed dirt track racing tomorrow at Idaho Falls Raceway located at 8433 West Arco Highway with go-kart races for kids at 5 p.m. and car races at 7 p.m.—the event will also offer bounce houses, face painting, a 50/50 raffle for the Idaho Falls Rescue Mission, and a canned food drive. East Idaho News
- ➤ Elizabeth Smart will visit Ammon on Sept. 3 as the keynote speaker for a Fall Ball fundraiser that supports her foundation’s work to end sexual violence and help survivors. The event at the Brickyard Event Center will begin at 6 p.m.—offering dinner, desserts, and survivor-centered activities. East Idaho News
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 49-year-old Madison County man, Jeremy Paul Hurst, died when his motorcycle collided with a parked garbage truck on 160th E near Old Ririe Highway around 12:30 p.m. as emergency responders including Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies — Idaho Falls Ambulance and Jefferson Central Fire — worked to free him from beneath the truck. - ➤ Jeff Henry and his family formed Family Tree Lemonade Co.—a gourmet lemonade business started after his heart condition was diagnosed in July 2024. They will expand with a new mobile food trailer and attend local events such as the Community Market on Aug. 23. East Idaho News

- ➤ Idaho Falls Downtown Development Corporation paused its app-based paid parking system— and will instead focus on upgrading signage and refining permits in existing lots— to boost parking availability after feedback from downtown business owners. KXPI
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Eastern Idaho Public Health confirmed the first measles case in an Idaho resident since 1991 in an unvaccinated child from Bonneville County on Thursday—health officials reported the case is linked to an international traveler from last week. They said contacts are being monitored to prevent further spread—residents are urged to check their vaccination records. East Idaho News

- ➤ Razor’s Edge Boxing Club, a nonprofit for at-risk youth, is hosting its seventh annual Rumble at the Bonneville County 4-H Complex in Idaho Falls on Saturday.
