- ➤ Today the LDS Church will deliver 42,000 pounds of food—packaged on 24 pallets—to the Community Food Basket to help meet local need as donations fell by roughly 200,000 to 300,000 pounds from last year. The food bank supports local nonprofits, schools, shelters and senior centers. East Idaho News

- ➤ An Idaho Falls man died after an apartment disturbance turned violent Tuesday, August 19 when his suicidal threats escalated—leading to exchanged gunfire as he fired at officers. KXPI

- ➤ Curious Roots Learning Academy, a new pre-school at 565 1st Street, Idaho Falls, will open on Sept. 2 to help children ages 2 to 5 prepare for kindergarten — founders Jamie Buell and Lexie Cole will host an open house today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. for interested parents. East Idaho News

- ➤ Bonneville County Prosecuting Attorney Randy Neal warned that the fiscal 2026 budget lacks funds and could weaken the local justice system—he urged residents to contact county commissioners before next week's vote since his office now struggles against nearly double the public defenders. KXPI
- ➤ Idaho Falls held a budget hearing on Aug. 14 and will finalize its spending plan on Aug. 28 that raises fees for water, sewer and power while giving more funds to Municipal Services, legal, fire and Public Works and cutting 17% from the Parks budget. The plan also adds pay raises for council members and the mayor, hikes airport fees and sets funds for zoo improvements and a new fire storage facility — changes that will affect city services this fiscal year.
