  • Madison from East Side Pet Clinic left her house in socks on Aug. 10 to help a woman in a bad car crash—she stayed until help arrived and cleared the car before towing. EastIdahoNews.com partnered with Ashley and Ashley Outlet to honor her on Feel Good Friday.  East Idaho News

  • Hannah Britton, 26, survived a devastating car crash on August 11 that killed her boyfriend and left her with serious injuries, but she defied doctors' predictions by walking independently, graduating college, and working in marketing at BRiO Home Health and Hospice — she now gives motivational speeches about her remarkable recovery.  East Idaho News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Ellie Daniels, Miss Idaho 2025, won her title on June 14 and is leaving for Florida today to compete in the Miss America pageant. She will spend 10 days in Orlando and perform a dance for her talent — her main challenge as she faces on-stage questions.  KPVI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Idaho Falls municipal election is set for Tuesday, Nov. 4 — voters will choose a Mayor and City Council members for three seats with each term lasting four years. Candidate filings can be withdrawn until Friday, Sept. 5 — and polls will operate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.  City of Idaho Falls
  • Idaho Fish and Game released its 2025 Deer/Elk Hunting Outlook report and said elk populations are expected to remain strong while mule deer numbers steadily recover in the southeast region (mild winters boosted the counts). The agency also set new hunting rules that require a muzzleloader-only season in Unit 73A (centerfire rifles are now banned) and advised hunters to review local regulations.  KXPI
  • Today law enforcement has increased patrols around schools as part of the Southeast Idaho Traffic Safety Task Force's effort to crack down on speeding and other unsafe driving behaviors such as ignoring school bus stop arms. Lieutenant Todd Orr said patrols will operate in school zones during the day and target impaired drivers at night — all to keep students safe.  KXPI

  • Powerlifters from over a dozen countries gathered at the Hilton Garden Inn in Idaho Falls for the AWPC World Championships and WPC-AWPC World Cup Record Breakers—on August 29, women, teenagers and Special Olympics athletes attempted to break records with strong support. More competitions will take place today and on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. as lifters look to set additional new records.  KXPI
