  • Today through September 11, the Idaho Falls Police Department and Anheuser-Busch will host their annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb where police, firefighters, and Anheuser-Busch employees honor 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, and 8 paramedics by climbing 2,071 steps—matching the 110 floors of the Twin Towers—while donations support the Chaplains of Idaho, the Greater Idaho Falls Police Foundation, and the Idaho Falls Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 6 Officer Wellness Fund.  KXPI
  • Snake River Animal Shelter received a transformative grant from the Grey Muzzle Organization to launch the Senior Glow Up program for about 24 senior dogs. The program will provide professional grooming and share before and after photos — helping them find homes sooner.  East Idaho News

  • National discount retailer Burlington will open a new store in Idaho Falls this fall as it expands into eastern Idaho. The store at Teton Spectrum shopping center at 3011 South 25th Street — its fourth location in the state featuring an updated layout and new logo—will begin hiring staff soon.  East Idaho News

  • TOBYMAC will headline his Hits Deep 2026 Tour on March 6 at the Mountain America Center with Crowder and Jeremy Camp joining him+ tickets go on sale at 12:00 p.m. EST on September 12 as the Awakening Foundation prepares for a powerful Christian music event.  KXPI
  • Christian music star TOBYMAC will perform at the Mountain America Center in Idaho Falls on March 6 during his Hits Deep Tour next spring. Tickets go on sale Sept 12 at 10 a.m. and the tour will also feature Crowder and Jeremy Camp — attracting fans with over 70 top hits.  East Idaho News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Fire crews are making progress on the Dollar Lake fire that is burning over 15,000 acres and is 22% contained. The fire is expected to grow today as warmer, drier weather comes, and the national forest has ordered closures while evacuation orders remain unchanged.  KPVI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Idaho Falls City Council approved a $389.6 million fiscal year 2025-26 budget that funds public safety, pay adjustments, and capital projects across 11 departments. The plan—adopted on Aug.28 after public input—includes investments such as an airport terminal expansion and continued support for firefighter positions through a federal SAFER grant.  KXPI
  • Candidate lists for city elections across Eastern Idaho are final after the filing deadline on August 29 — those wanting to withdraw have until September 5. In Idaho Falls, voters will select candidates including Mayor Jeff Alldridge on November 4.  KXPI
