- ➤ Idaho high school students may soon study Western civilization in a new two-semester elective if the proposed content standards pass a rule‐making process this fall—setting up the course to launch in the 2026-2027 school year. The standards, which cover topics from ancient Greece to the Enlightenment, were approved last month by the state board and now await final legislative approval. KIVI-TV

- ➤ The Idaho Department of Transportation said US-20 near Lindsay Boulevard will be improved — its plan includes road widening and relocating the I-15 exit — to reduce congestion and improve safety, though no timeline has been set. A collision on August 29 involving four vehicles left passengers with minor injuries, and ITD urged drivers to be careful in work zones. KXPI
- ➤ Christian Ashcraft, a 32-year-old former city employee with a master’s degree in public administration, is running for mayor of Idaho Falls with a focus on building a strong economy and a trusted government.
