- ➤ Ammon Mayor Sean Coletti declared Sept. 8 as 'Tanner Scoresby Day' to honor local teen Tanner Scoresby—an 18-year-old high school graduate fighting blood cancer who is now in Arizona receiving stem cell treatment. The proclamation asks local residents and businesses to support him with prayers, kind acts, and donations. East Idaho News

- ➤ On Aug. 19, the Idaho Falls Police Department responded at 10:11 p.m. to a 911 call reporting Derrand Zimmerman—aged 46 and described as erratic and armed on Clubhouse Circle—who fired a shot toward officers, prompting Sgt. Gabe Klepich and Officer Dustin Cook to return fire and kill him, while released bodycam footage and the call show the incident is under investigation by the Rexburg Police Department with a review by the county prosecutor. - ➤ Jerry and Valerie Bingham agreed to stop irrigating their crops for the rest of the season after a settlement with the Department of Water Resources was accepted by Judge Darren Simpson on Thursday — the order comes as the department begins processing the Binghams’ mitigation plan submitted on August 19 — while civil penalties of $300 per acre are set to be pursued.
