ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters in Swan Valley are battling a large barn fire on Chapel Road— the structure is completely engulfed in flames while crews work to contain the blaze and investigate the cause with no injuries reported.  KXPI

CRIME NEWS

  • Fremont County charged seven individuals with illegal voting in connection with the controversial May 16 election for an Island Park taxing district—each has been released on bond and is set for a preliminary hearing on September 17 at 1 p.m.  KIVI-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Idaho Falls Symphony is holding its annual park concert this weekend at Freeman Park. The show will begin Saturday at 5:30 p.m.—it will feature songs from The Greatest Showman, music from Carousel, and a musical instrument petting zoo with local food vendors nearby.  KPVI

ECONOMY NEWS

  • INL and Argonne National Laboratory developed HydroBoost — a tool that uses seven-day forecasts to help hydropower operators plan revenue in the day-ahead market. The tool will be upgraded to include features that improve decisions on hybrid hydropower and battery storage.  East Idaho News
  • AAA Idaho reported that gas prices held at $3.47 per gallon on September 8, with Monday's average about eight cents lower than a month ago and 11 cents lower than a year ago. Local stations such as Idaho Falls at $3.28 may see increased travel demand over the weekend as oil prices and refinery production suggest that prices could drop soon — officials say conditions remain steady.  East Idaho News

  • Jordan Bardsley, a 44-year-old Idaho Falls resident, is running for Seat 2 on the City Council after her daughter’s first vote spurred her to drive local change. She works for the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and volunteers at Razor’s Edge Boxing Club — she will work hard to support education and community needs until the November 4 election.  East Idaho News
