  • Idaho Falls Power, in partnership with Idaho Department of Fish and Game, completed major improvements at Cedar Point Boat Launch south of Gem State Dam on Sept 9—upgrades include a new boat ramp, access roads, vault toilet, signage, expanded parking, and shoreline stabilization to improve access to the Snake River.  City of Idaho Falls
  • The city of Ammon is preparing for its Annual Pumpkin Walk on October 18th at Mccowin Park — registration is open until October 11th and the event offers a $500 prize for best in show while the first 50 entries receive passes to the Museum of Idaho's Mummy Exhibit.  KPVI

CRIME NEWS

  • Attorney General Raúl Labrador warned Idaho families that scammers are using cryptocurrency ATM scams targeting seniors through fake tech support calls — a method that has cost victims tens of thousands of dollars — after a Stinker Store employee unplugged a machine and called Boise Police to stop two seniors from losing over $30,000.  KXPI

  • Friday night, Train performed for thousands at the Eastern Idaho State Fair fairgrounds in Blackfoot. Lead singer Pat Monahan praised the local energy and said he enjoyed the show—hoping to return for future events.  KPVI

  • Christopher Brunt, a lifelong Idaho Falls resident, is running for Seat 2 on the City Council as incumbent Lisa Burtenshaw runs for mayor — he aims to serve the community with a focus on representation — his campaign sets the stage for the November 4 election.  East Idaho News
  • Today, local leaders met at the Bonneville County Courthouse and signed a proclamation naming September 14 as Missing Persons Day—an act that honors Amber Hoopes, who went missing 24 years ago, and calls on the community to report any details in ongoing cases.  KXPI

HEALTH NEWS

  • The 9/22 project is hosting its 4th annual Veteran Suicide Awareness and Prevention Walk Saturday, September 20th at 8 a.m.—a 22-mile route that begins at the Bannock County Veterans Memorial Building and winds past ISU and local trails to honor veterans who have lost their lives to suicide. Navy Veteran Angela Brush, among others, will participate to raise awareness and encourage mental health support.  KPVI
  • An Idaho Falls woman was released from the hospital after receiving a life-saving double lung transplant – she now begins a three-month pulmonary rehab program to aid her recovery. She battled pulmonary hypertension, COVID, and COPD before being placed on the transplant list in early July and continues her recovery with her companion of 40 years by her side.  KXPI
