ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ AAA research shows that 96% of drivers admitted to aggressive actions behind the wheel over the past year and nearly half of crashes involved such behaviors; the study advises drivers to take deep breaths and let others pass—keeping roads safe. KXPI
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices in Idaho Falls have risen six cents to $3.52 per gallon while rates elsewhere remain low; the national average is $3.18 per gallon + AAA said switching to the winter fuel blend may lower prices soon. KPVI
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Christopher Gress, a student in the medical assisting program at The College of Eastern Idaho, was named the national winner of the 2025 Student Essay Competition hosted by the American Association of Medical Assistants—he will be featured in its magazine and receive $1,000 dollars. KPVI
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ American Falls Reservoir is 3% full, which has exposed parts of its historic townsite and raised concerns about water for irrigation. Brian Stevens from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation said low natural flow this summer and fall has led to a steeper drop than last year — officials now hope for better precipitation to boost water supplies for next season. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Idaho Transportation Department will start major improvements to I-15 between Exits 89 and 93 in Blackfoot — the work includes lengthening ramps, increasing vertical clearance over US 26, redesigning interchanges and adding a lane in each direction to improve safety between Pocatello and Idaho Falls. Construction will begin in 2026 pending approval and funding. KPVI
- ➤ Idaho Falls officials and state leaders broke ground on the new Aurora nuclear plant on Monday—Oklo is partnering with INL on a pilot reactor project that will create 370 construction jobs and up to 80 permanent roles once complete, setting a new course for the state's energy future. - ➤ Idaho Falls real estate owner Brandon Lee, a lifelong resident, is running for Seat 2 on the city council and said on September 23 that his background in land acquisition and community work can guide strategic city growth—he is one of seven candidates competing as current council member Lisa Burtenshaw runs for mayor. The election will be held on November 4. East Idaho News
