- ➤ Former inmate Sione Kaloa, now a life coach, is hosting a free three-day pig roast and bones event at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Rigby this weekend—workshops will cover CPR, first aid and other topics, and a dominoes tournament will offer a 2017 Chevy Traverse for a local family. - ➤ Idaho Fish and Game is asking for information after a white-tailed deer was found with its head cut off on the banks of the Snake River between Blackfoot and Firth—authorities believe the deer was illegally shot with a rifle between September 20 and 23 and are investigating whether it was shot from a boat or dumped into the river. - ➤ The Bonneville Art Association will host its Annual Fall Art Show — held at the historic Stanger Building in Iona — where local artists including Ken Fry and Steve Winchester will display artwork for sale. The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. East Idaho News

- ➤ A USDA report released last month showed that in 2024, Idaho farmers produced crops worth $12.6 billion—a 3% rise from 2023—even as operating costs climbed 6% to $7.2 billion, leaving them struggling with low commodity prices despite good yields. Farm leaders say a new Farm Bill may help ease rising expenses as farmers prepare for a busy 2025 harvest. KXPI

- ➤ The City Club of Idaho Falls and Compass Academy will host a public forum for mayoral and city council candidates at Compass Academy auditorium located at 955 Garfield Street on Oct. 15 and Oct. 16 starting at 7 p.m. Compass Academy students will moderate the discussions—EastIdahoNews.com will livestream the event and attendees can meet candidates afterward. - ➤ The Bonneville County & Idaho Falls Emergency Communications Center launched AI Annie using an Aurelian voice assistant to take non-emergency calls — the system now directs routine calls at 208-529-1200 so dispatchers can focus on actual emergencies, and it has already reduced non-emergency calls by 62%. - ➤ Idaho Falls City Council candidates Jordan Bardsley, Mosy Moran, Teresa Dominick, Christopher Brunt, and Brad Whipple participated in a public forum hosted by Stand Up Idaho where residents asked about engaging youth in local politics. Some candidates recommended using social media and school visits (tools to connect with young voters) while others argued that taxpayer funding limits government action. KXPI
- ➤ Bonneville County announced that the County Transfer Station in Idaho Falls will be closed for maintenance from October 18 to November 24 — county residents must use Peterson Hill Landfill for municipal waste and Bonneville County Hatch Pit for recyclables and special items. KXPI
