COMMUNITY NEWS

  • United Way of Southeastern Idaho will host its 5th annual Women United Murder Mystery Dinner on October 30th at the Shoshone Bannock Hotel and Event Center. The event will feature a cocktail hour from 6 to 6:30 p.m. — dinner and an interactive circus-themed show with raffle tickets for a trip to Mexico or Las Vegas, and all funds raised will support local nonprofits including Bannock Youth Foundation, Family Services Alliance, Oneida Crisis Center and Bingham Crisis Center.  KPVI
  • Wall of Warmth began its donation drop-off locations and wall site displays across Eastern Idaho on October 13th to offer winter clothes with no strings attached. Donations will be accepted from November 10th to 21st as the project aims to collect over 9,000 coats—founder Valorie Blanchard plans to step down after the drive while a new leader is sought.  KXPI

CULTURE NEWS

  • The first-ever Idaho Storytellers Summit was held at Rigby High School on October 11 to bring local writers together—keynote speakers Cynthia Hand and Jeff Wheeler shared their insights and experiences. Organizers also sold book-themed shirts to raise funds for students to attend a writing conference next February.  KXPI

  • Axel is a 5-year-old black lab named Pet of the Week at the Snake River Animal Shelter in Idaho Falls. Operations manager Romi Weaver said he loves playing ball and interacts well with other dogs—though careful introductions with cats are needed.  East Idaho News
