Good morning, Idaho Falls.

Costumed characters gathered at Tautphaus Park for the opening night of Idaho Falls Zoo's annual Boo at the Zoo, an event that raises funds and marks the season's end.

The event started October 16 and will run through October 18 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. — local vendors and festive activities enhance the community spirit.

Lieutenant Nathan Kaas, 48, a veteran of more than 20 years in the California Sheriff's Office, was killed in a hunting accident in Caribou-Targhee National Forest when his friend accidentally discharged a rifle — a Help A Hero fundraiser on behalf of his family raised $11,590 of an $80,000 goal as of Thursday.

Mario Hernandez, founder of Teton Auto Group and dealer principal of Teton Toyota, was nominated for the 2026 TIME Dealer of the Year Award—one of the auto industry's top honors—as he marks 20 years of turning a struggling dealership into a local leader.

He is one of 47 dealers to be recognized at the National Automobile Dealers Association Show in Las Vegas on Feb. 5, 2026 for his business success, leadership, and community service.

Today, residents in Burley can visit the three-day Pomerelle Ski Swap to buy winter gear at discounts ranging from 20% to 60% while supporting the local ski patrol.

The event runs today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.—offering families a chance to refresh their equipment for the winter season.
