- ➤ Votes for Starburst and Skittles are tied in the local trick-or-treat candy showdown—both flavors share equal support. The winner will advance to the final round this Thursday—residents are urged to vote to break the tie. KPVI
- ➤ At the KPVI Trick-or-Treat Candy Showdown, only two contestants remain and local voters will choose the champion on Thursday—early free-for-all expectations gave way to a more controlled contest—and the vote is now open. KPVI
- ➤ In response to the federal shutdown, Himalayan Flavor in Idaho Falls—also serving Pocatello and Logan—is providing one free meal each day for federal workers and families with valid ID. Local food banks and community groups are also preparing to help as food assistance programs pause for November. KXPI
- ➤ Camp Hayden will host its 6th annual Special Needs Trunk or Treat on November 1 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 555 West 25th Street—offering a free, accessible Halloween event for families with children of all abilities that includes decorated car trunks and an Accessible Haunted Sensory Event. - ➤ USDA records show Idaho food banks lost 370,000 pounds of meat, dairy, and fresh produce from May through September due to cuts in the Emergency Food Assistance Program, which halted deliveries for Community Action Partnership + El-Ada Community Action Partnership. Idaho residents will miss SNAP benefits this November because a government shutdown blocked funds for food assistance. KXPI

- ➤ TitleOne announced a three-day high school basketball tournament that will take place from Dec. 11 to Dec. 13 at the Mountain America Center to raise funds for local non-profits — each team donating its proceeds to a charity of choice. The event will feature 24 games among 16 teams and will be live-streamed with added halftime shows and a leadership training session for players. East Idaho News
