COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Just 4 Kids pediatric dentistry on South Utah Ave has continued its 15-year tradition of buying back leftover Halloween candy—donating the treats to troops overseas through Operation Gratitude. The event will run from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on November 3rd and will pay $2 per pound for donations up to five pounds.  KPVI

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Idaho Transportation Department reported Friday that Interstate 15 near Blackfoot has been closed since a semi truck crashed into a pillar on Riverton Road Bridge and crews are working to open one lane in each direction with drivers facing long delays as traffic shifts to Highway 91—ITD expects partial reopening today.  KXPI

CULTURE NEWS

  • Paranormal investigators from PPR inspected an old, out-of-service plane at the Idaho Falls airport in the lead-up to Halloween and used thermal cameras, sensors, and a spirit box—tools they relied on to search for any lingering presence.  KXPI
  • Curator Kristina Frandson and anthropologist Camille Thomas from the Museum of Idaho studied a dark basement in the Historic District to see how plain designs for storage and heating turned eerie because of lava rock walls and old wiring—features that once were common now seem spooky. Their study shows how changes in home design make old spaces feel strange.  KXPI
  • Today, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce hosts a free Dia de Los Muertos event at Westbank Event Center from noon to 8 p.m.—it features live music, raffles, food, and rooms for sharing photos of loved ones. Tomorrow, Calakas Tacos & Miches will host another celebration at the Waterfront from noon to 6 p.m., which includes food trucks, a film screening, a costume contest, and cultural performances.  East Idaho News
