COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Dozens of local restaurants, businesses and organizations are stepping in as SNAP benefits remain uncertain—many are hosting food drives, free meals and Thanksgiving box sign-ups to help local families. Starting Nov. 8, Idaho Falls Community Food Basket will accept sign-ups to serve 150 families while other groups offer additional food support. East Idaho News
- ➤ Reed’s Dairy invites the community to join the grand reopening of its rebuilt facility nearly two years after a fire destroyed the original building. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will start at 2 p.m. Nov. 14 — with President Alan Reed speaking — and public tours will follow from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 15. East Idaho News
- ➤ A Parent Summit is coming to Eastern Idaho this Saturday from 9am to 3pm at Community Youth in Action in Idaho Falls where parents, guardians and foster parents can meet local groups and access free resources—United Way and other partners are supporting the event. The free event will help families make new connections and learn about local support—providing practical help in raising children. KPVI

- ➤ Rocky Mountain Power is inviting customers to donate any dollar amount through its Lend a Hand program so the company will match donations 2:1 and forward funds to local community action agencies (donation envelopes will be included with mailed bills and electronic payers can request one) to help people in need this winter. Last year, the program helped 83 households cover their bills. KPVI

- ➤ College of Eastern Idaho invites local residents to take its brief Community Perception Survey—asking for views on higher education, job training and regional workforce needs. Dr. Lori Barber said the survey gives participants a chance to win a $100 gift card while helping shape future training programs. East Idaho News

- ➤ Amid the government shutdown and FAA’s announcement of potential flight cuts, Kimberly Felker said Idaho Falls Regional Airport is not expecting widespread cancellations but travelers should check with their airlines for real-time updates—future flight schedules may change suddenly. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Thunder Ridge High student Kindi Barrie had her right foot amputated in June to stop the spread of her aggressive cancer and recent tests revealed that the disease has reached her lungs with seven nodules—this setback led her to begin a new round of chemotherapy in October. She is set to start radiation once the nodules shrink—Kindi remains positive and focused on her goal of becoming a nurse. East Idaho News
- ➤ Mayors across Idaho took part in the 2025 Walking Challenge by Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health and earned $500 for 5,000 steps & $1,000 for 10,000 steps, reaching a record $107,500 for community projects that promote a healthy lifestyle. The funds will be used to support various programs aimed at improving community well-being. KPVI

- ➤ Wesley White from Idaho Falls rescued a stray dog on a fishing trip in Belize, and a viral video of the rescue drew about 75 million views.
