- ➤ The 59th annual Festival of Trees began Monday at the Elks Lodge with a ribbon-cutting led by the Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce — Santa Claus made an appearance and the event will run through Friday, November 21. More than 45 trees are on display for sale and the festivities support Development Workshop programs that help people with disabilities. East Idaho News
- ➤ A local Secret Santa is donating $1 million to deserving people across eastern Idaho this holiday season by delivering daily gifts from now until the end of the year. The East Idaho News elves surprised teacher Sherri Empey—known in her community for partnering with her late husband as Santa—after she lost him on Halloween. East Idaho News
- ➤ Residents in eastern Idaho can nominate their house for the Battle of the Bulbs contest by entering their holiday light display before Dec. 13 at noon—sponsored by Teton Auto Group and East Idaho News. Contestants must follow safety and local code rules since images and addresses will be shared publicly. East Idaho News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A dry summer pushed water levels at American Falls Reservoir down to 3% capacity, which warmed the water and lowered oxygen levels—causing fish to leave and fewer trophy catches. Idaho Fish and Game restocked the reservoir with 42,000 catchable trout and 250,000 fingerlings this fall, and officials expect large fish to return once conditions improve. KXPI
